This "work and travel" programme is a brilliant opportunity to explore Singapore. You will have time to travel around the island, bask in its glory, and enjoy its sensational day and nightlife vibes. You will move to the sounds of music, learn from its multicultural history and heritage, dance to the wind of opportunity, and see with your eyes intriguing hidden tourist corners. In addition, you will mingle with faces familiar and unseen in cafes, clubs, malls, beaches, commercial strips, all the while at peace knowing that you are in one of the safest cities in the world.

Eligibility. Who can apply? Participant must be an admitted prospective student, a current full time student, or a graduate studying in an eligible university of the UK, USA, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan or New Zealand; aged 17-30.

The Ministry will accept applicants from the following universities or equivalent institutions as listed on the following sources:

In your travel explorations, you will walk off the beaten path and behold the following wonders:

  • Idyllic haven & wildlife explores shady trails, mangrove swaps, and kelong.
  • Heritage & footprints is kilometres long back to early chinese immigrants; the spices, temples, mosques of little India; the handicrafts and cuisine of arabia, turkey and Egypt.
  • Emerald treasures finds you in touch with national parks, sunghei buloh wetland reserves, macritchie reservoir, and singapore botanic gardens, and kite-flying at marina south and east coast.
  • Multi-visit destination includes fun spots like sentosa, blending recreational facilities that include family attractions and sparkling beaches.

Placement details

Location:

All entry-level work positions will allow you to earn a decent spending money, and cover all your living expenses in Singapore. The details of your placement will be provided upon registration.

Types of available positions:

  1. Retail associates with prestige fashion / luxury brands;
  2. Hospitality trainee with established hotels and restaurants;
  3. Culinary assistant;
  4. Entertainment trainee (ex: bartenders/guest relations officer);
  5. Health / Spa trainee.

You will be placed in your area of interest and you can choose up to 3 areas of interest.

Working hours:

The standard working hours per week is 44 hours.

Salary:

On average you will be paid between sgd $600-800 depending on employer.
Nb: you will be paid monthly by cheque or telegraphic transfer. The monthly pay date will be on the 10th of every month.

Holiday:

Your employer will give you 14 days of paid leave and $500 equivalent of £190 as a completion bonus.

Transportation:

Public transport is the most popular way of getting around Singapore with extensive route-networks and bus inter-changes. You can either travel by bus or by train at affordable fares.
