How can I qualify for the programme?

You must be between 18 and 35 years old. Previous experience is not necessary, but some hotels may give preference to participants who have already worked in the tourist industry. Participants are expected to be motivated, independent, flexible and open-minded. For students coming from Non-EU countries or those who would normally require a visa to go to Portugal, it is extremely important that they have a full student visa.

How long can I work for in Portugal?

You may work from 2 to 6 months.

What types of work placements are available?

You have the opportunity to work hospitality: kitchen assistant, room maid, waiter, bar person, reception, laundry personnel, animator, maintenance staff, general assistant, restaurant employee etc. (Other areas available).

Do I have to speak Portuguese to apply for the programme?

Participants with an advanced level of Portuguese may commence with the practical training programme without the need to attend a language course. If the participant needs to improve language skills before commencing the practical training period, Global Choices can offer the possibility of studying in recognized language schools with a maximum of 10 pupils in each class.

When can I apply for the Work and Travel Portugal?

We accept applicants all year round.

Will I have accommodation arranged?

Participants will stay in a hotel room (usually shared) with full board.
