Teaching in Brazil

Eligibility. Who can apply for the programme?

We are looking for tutors whose native languages are: English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

The applicant must be a fluent English speaker between 18 and 35 years old. You must be a college student or a graduate but most importantly be an enthusiastic individual and willing to share and learn from experience!

Being able to speak Portuguese to some level would be a great help but is by no means a prerequisite as many of the staff members speak English.

How to apply for a programme?

Step 1

Read carefully the programme description and eligibility criteria. Then fill out the online application form and pay the booking fee in order to apply.

Step 2

Global Choices confirms your booking and place on the programme. We appoint a programme coordinator to lead you through the rest of the application process until your are successfully placed.

Step 3

You communicate with your programme coordinator and exchange all necessary documents and forms. Once the placement is confirmed you will need to purchase insurance, pay the remaining program balance together with other fees (if appropriate).

Required documents

• A valid passport and a copy of your passport;
• 3 passport photos;
• Your CV;
• A character reference and a reference from a previous employer or teacher;
• Four pictures of you with your friends or relatives;
• A completed application form.

Work permits and visa

The Brazilian government does not require a visa for stays up to 90 days from the countries with which it keeps diplomatic relations. Please check with the Brazilian consulate at your country. Passport holders from those countries do not need a visa for the Overseas Language Tutor program. They can enter Brazil on a Tourist status.

If required, the Visa for the Overseas Language Tutor will be the "Tourist Visa". However, passports must be valid for at least six months and a return ticket and proof of sufficient funds may be requested on arrival. Tutors will be admitted for a stay of up to 90 days, which is extendable, at the discretion of the Federal Police.

For some nationalities the student is required to supply a Criminal Background check.

Deadlines

Participants are expected to apply at least 3 months prior to their preferred start date.
