Teaching in Brazil is a practical programme where the student will get training in teaching English as a foreign language. This training and work experience scheme is available to undergraduates, graduates and gap year students. Tutors’ primary spoken language must be one of these: English, Spanish, French, German, or Italian.

You will work up to 15 hours, 5-6 days per week. The minimum stay is four weeks, although you may choose to stay for 8-12 weeks. Positions are unpaid, but you will receive your own room and full board for seven days a week.

For the duration of the placement you will be expected to teach your language to the family and take part in the family’s activities. As long as you’re participating in the programme, you must follow all rules as outlined in the orientation provided by the local coordinator. Your job is to coach one or more members of the family in your native language, establishing a regular class schedule. This schedule will be determined by the host family’s needs.
